Greenery – Pantone colour of the year in jewellery
What’s not to like about this juicy green colour which depicts the green leafs of a deciduous forest in spring? We adore it and have created many pieces of jewellery with gems of this and other green hues.
Every year Pantone decides on a specific colour which they name “Colour of the year”. This colour (and a fan of other colours which are matching or contrasting especially well with the chosen colour of the year) serves as a guideline for especially the fashion industry when deciding on the hues of the fashion to be created in the near future. Pantone isn’t omnipotent and not EVERY colour they choose hits it off every year, but there is a strong tendency that they are very good at predicting (or stipulating) what colour will be popular next year.

This year they have chosen the colour “Greenery” which is a luscious lemony-green hue. As they put it themselves: “A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings”. So true – especially since green is such a wonderful life-affirming colour! After all: Most plants growing (and thriving) are green and therefore we of cause connect the colour to health and growth. In the States the dollar bills are green and so there “The green stuff” also means prosperity – another form of growth. Perhaps Castens was ahead with the green trend – perhaps I and our customers just love green. But no matter why, we have already created many sorts of jewellery with green gems – especially the peridot or olive coloured diamond which come closest to the yellowish-green of “Greenery”.

It is said that green is good for the eyes and we think, that when it sparkles, it's even better! Pantones Greenery combines very well with the cool silver and especially the glowing gold. In contrast to the warmth of the yellow gold this colour is depicting optimism and exuberant positivity which will do wonders for anyone’s mood :-)
