The earrings of the bride
- A guide to an important detail
Few things are considered quite as carefully as details of a wedding. For most this event will be a "one shot" and therefore we strive for all details to be as close to perfection as we can get them. One of these details are the jewelry of the bride. Here the earrings often tend to be particularly important because they provide life and movement to an outfit which at times can feel a bit stiff (especially since there is actual boning in many wedding dresses!).
When making decisions about the jewelry for the big day, the dress is the most important starting point. Consider: If the neckline is high, you may want to choose smaller and more simple earrings, while a plunging neckline or even a strap-less design invite for the use of big, dramatic earrings which can provide a certain balance to all the bare skin. - Alternatively, it is fine to use both earrings and a necklace together.

Bridal earrings of HRH Crown Princess Mary
Teardrop earrings are classics - especially for weddings and HRH Crown Princess Mary also wore just such a set made by Dulong for her wedding. Obviously I had immediately spotted when I - like so many other Danes - sat glued to the TV, attending the royal wedding. Even back then in 2004 I thought that they were a classic, at which I wanted to do my own take.
The shape – a double drop which is very lively due to the independently moving parts, is very beautiful, I think. But personally, I was not that taken by the details of these earrings - I think they are a bit clumsy and the design of the setting of the pearl (which is inspired by a snowdrop) is probably more lily-like and could have followed the curve of the pearl a bit more elegantly. On the other hand, there are some BIG diamonds in these earrings, and nothing bad can ever be said about diamonds ;-)

Earrings for a very special bride
A few fears later a customer who was going to wear a strapless dress, asked me so to create a set of earrings which were so big and beautiful that they rendered all other ornaments superfluous - preferably teardrop shaped like the ones the Crown Princess had worn. A wonderful task which resulted in some very special, asymmetrical earrings made of silver with white sapphires and pearls.
Fleur de lis - The ultimate wedding earrings
Eventually I had to cave in and created my own "con amore" version of these classical double drop earrings, and I wanted to do this using the best materials: White gold and diamonds, as well as the largest and most beautiful drop-shaped pearls I could find. The basic shape is the classic with pavé diamonds and I have - somewhat unusual for me – chosen to go with a completely symmetrical design, reminiscent of a fleur de lis motif.
However, this was MY version, and so the frame of these earrings have an elegant "Schwung", which terminates in a double curl. This is also the reason why they ended up being called "Fleur de Lis" because they resembles a very widespread French motif inspired by the lily. Read more about Fleur de lis here. My earrings obviously also had to have the ever-present bubbles which bind together, create transition and provide life to the design.
The diamonds are not nearly as large as the ones set in the earrings of Crown Princess Mary, but I think you can "make do" with the total of a whole carat of diamonds set in these earrings. The earrings are composed of three parts: The stud with the biggest diamonds, a frame with pavé-set diamonds and then the pearl. The fact that there are 3 elements which move independently of each other provides plenty of life and glitter and thus life to the wearer's face and especially her eyes.White gold earrings with a total 1ct TW/VS diamonds and freshwater pearls - 45.410 DKK
