The Guild Show is an event that's a bit of a secret for all but the connoisseurs, and it takes place twice on the same day in November. This way, the “crowd” can see the delights of the show in the afternoon while the “VIPs” get to admire the exquisite craftsmanship in the evening. At the VIP event (which is almost impossible to get tickets for), the show's patroness Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte attends and a carefully selected celebrity gives a speech on the importance of good design. This year it was award-winning film director Susanne Bier, who spoke about how she very consciously uses clothing to describe the characters in her films. I certainly recognise the dresses from “The Bald Hairdresser”!

And then they start walking - the long-legged beauties that had been so carefully prepared for this very moment over the past many hours.

Each designer had 3 models to dress and for all of us it was hard to choose what to show in the few minutes we had on the catwalk. We chose to focus exclusively on jewellery from the new Adorabella series, which has a very lavish tiara as its head - the showpiece (pun intended).

What makes this fashion show really special is the detail that after the show ends, the audience has a rare opportunity to see the designs they had just seen on the catwalk up close, in the neighbouring salons. Here I had the opportunity to meet Princess Benedikte and we had a little chat about tiaras. Of course, she has a few herself and one of them - like the Adorabella tiara - can be transformed into other jewellery. “It's so practical for travelling” as she said, and she's right!
It was a long but very beautiful day - definitely worth the sore feet!
